So this is going to be a super simple summer (or really anytime) recipe. Really just 3 ingredients, or 4/5 if you are feeling a little extra.
I’m sure many of you are familiar with a White Russian. Maybe you love them, maybe you love The Big Lebowski, maybe both. This is somewhat similar but more simple. My dad didn’t drink much when I was growing up. He always told me he had drank enough in the Navy for the rest of his life. Which, judging by the stories and photos I’ve seen of his, I’d venture that to be correct. But one drink he did actually love and taught me how to make him when I was about 12 or 13 was a Kahlua and cream or Kahlua and milk. He always said it was like grown up chocolate milk, and honestly it is. Kahlua isn’t a terribly strong alcohol so this isn’t a drink you drink to get drunk, but just to enjoy.
So these days, a Kahlua and cream or Kahlua and milk always makes me think of my dad, and when I miss him, I’ll have one. So this year I decided to upgrade that to a milkshake because obviously ice cream makes everything better. All you need is some Kahlua, a good creamy vanilla ice cream, and a splash of milk. I topped this one with a tiny bit of chocolate syrup and whipped cream as well, but you don’t have to unless you’re feeling fancy.
